About Rajgundha

Prepare to be enchanted by Rajgundha Valley, where time slows down and the air hums with tranquillity. This unexplored gem lies in the Kangra district and is just an hour from the paragliding capital, Bir Billing Himachal Pradesh. With lush green meadows, serene sights, and sounds stretching out beneath the majestic Dhauladhar ranges, this valley proves to be more than just a destination. Imagine waking amidst the gentle rustle of oak and deodar trees, the distant hum of the Uhl River, fiery sunsets, and a twinkling night sky. What’s more, this valley is a trekker's paradise, boasting trails from easy hikes like the Hanumangarh hike to challenging treks like the Thamsar Pass Base Camp and Bara Bhangal. Beyond the breathtaking scenery, Rajgundha offers a chance to connect with the warm locals and appreciate the mountain way of life and the local culture. Oh, and trout fishing in the Uhl River (with a permit, of course) is a must in Rajgundha Valley. If you love Bir Billing Himachal Pradesh, this place is going to win you over in no time.

Things to Do

  • Palachak Hike: This beginner-friendly hike can be easily done in a day. Hike through the oak forests, soak your feet in hidden streams, and chat up local shepherds. And at the end, enjoy the views of the Palachak meadows. Also, along the way, the Uhl River will keep you company.

Duration: ~6 hrs

Distance: 18 km

  • Hanumangarh Hike: This is a moderate-to-difficult hike, as it gets steeper with the climb. But it also offers the most rewarding views of the entire Rajgundha and Barot Valley.

Duration: ~6 hrs

Duration: 6 km

  • Trout Fishing: If you’re in Rajgundha, you must try trout fishing in Barot’s trout farms. Catch fresh fish and enjoy!
  • Stargazing: The clear night sky in Rajgundha is best for stargazing, and on some days, you can even spot the Milky Way!
  • Bara Bhangal Trek: Bara Bhangal is one of India's remotest villages. This 10-day trek is very difficult and is best done from July to September. It starts off from Bir Billing Himachal Pradesh, all the way to Manali. Prepare for an exceptionally unique and secluded adventure, as remote as the Kala Pani Jail itself.
